Extra coaching of ROC participants. As a mentor or a teacher you notice when things go wrong in education of a student at your school. When this is caused by a limitation or handicap this will have consequences for the functioning of the student at school. For the mentor, the teacher and the school it is important that the student leaves school with a qualification and finds a suitable job. Especially for students with a limitation or handicap it's of great importance that the right choice of education and profession is made, connecting the possibilities of the student. A number of participants needs extra support during their education. Thanks to the European Union there is the possibility to offer extra support, by means of the Regular Plus Project, initiated bij Eega. In this way a cooperation is founded between Eega Plus and a number of ROC's in Overijssel,Gelderland and Drenthe. Plan of approach What is the plan of coaching like? The procedure of Regular Plus has the next steps: - Registration of the participant - Information arrives at Eega - Intake - An inventory of the problems - The discussion about the proposal with the participant, the parents and the coaches of the ROC - The participant is entered for discussions, investigations or an assessment stage to get clear what is a suitable training and a suitable occupation and a suitable supervision - Advice and appointments about the stage that is to be followed in cooperation with the ROC coaching It is important that during the whole stage there is a close contact with the parents and the coaches of the ROC. - The issue of the participant is seized outside the classroom by fellow workers of the project, who especially aim at acceptance and making choices, related to handicap and restrictions. - You can fully point at teaching - For each participant of the project a plan of coaching is made so that you get a good insight in the participant and his or her specific issue. - The participant stays in regular education as much as possible, but can complete the education successfully by means of the extra support. |
